Once Human,Now Irken Chapter 7

Meg watched, shaking with nerves, as Zim took the first bite out of the sticky-sweet pancake. She knew it would be her doom if he didn't like them. She gulped, watching nervously.
Zim chewed the pancake, savouring every flavour. the pancakes tasted DELISCIOUS, much better than anything he had ever eaten. "Mmmmmmmmmm!" he mumbled, his mouth stuck together with syrup. He swallowed the pancake, and licked his lips free of any syrup. "Those were GORGEOUS! How did you learn to cook like that?" Meg breathed out a massive sigh of relief. "I learned from my cookery lessons at school." She smiled "I'm so glad you like them, Zim!" Zim looked back sat her, managing a small smile. "Maybe this human isn't such a threat after all..." he thought to himself. "In fact, maybe she would be useful to my mission....She could help me learn more about the Earth, and how it functions. And she seems kind enough....."
"Zim?" Meg asked, giving the Irken a concerned look. "Are you OK? You completely spaced out!" Zim snapped back to reality "Oh, uh, I'm fine..." he replied, shaking his head and sighing. "Zim...." Meg murmered "I'm so sorry I was crabby to you yesterday. Everythings so weird right now, and seeing as I'm part human, i guess I'm not ready to see Earth destroyed yet...." She hung her head guiltily. "The real reason I made you those pancakes is.....I was hoping you would like them, so.....You wouldn't......Kill me." Zim felt a pang in his chest. When she put it like that, it sounded a lot harsher than it did in his mind. Meg started shaking slightly "But if you're angry..." she continued "You can destroy me." Zim looked up in astonishment. Meg looked like she was gonna start crying any moment now. His expression softened. "Well, uh, I've been thinking..." he replied, stuttering slightly and turning a shade of red. "You're a nice girl, and you've proved that by making me breakfast, so I'm..not gonna destroy you.." Meg whirled around in surprise, facing Zim and looking him straight in his large, magenta eyes. "A-Are you serious?!" she gasped, her chocolate eyes shining slightly. Zim nodded "I still need some help learning about Earth, and you seem willing and nice enough to help me....so you can live here with me and GIR if you wish." He smiled slightly, going that familliar shade of red. GIR leapt up from where he was sitting on the floor, smiling broadly. "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! NEW FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!" he hollered happily, runnning all around the room, squealing his head off. Meg gasped slightly, still staring at Zim. Tears formed in her eyes, and began to drip down her face, "Oh! Oh....THANK YOU!!!!" She wailed, collapsing on Zim and crying into his shoulder. "H-Hey! Earth Girl!!!!" Zim recoiled a little, not quite sure what to do, as he'd never had a girl crying on his shoulder before, let alone anyone. But he soon put his skinny arms around her shoulders, and hugged the crying Irken tightly.
That night, while settling down for another night on the sofa, Zim and Meg were engaging in some friendly conversation. "Hey Zim?" Meg asked "Where do you sleep?" "Oh, I sleep down in my underground lab, in the finest of Irken sleeping chambers!" Zim replied, smiling smugly. "So, am I Irken?" meg asked, blinking her big, brown eyes. Zim smiled sympathetically "Yes, but you are part human." he explained "So, I'm pretty sure you can do things that normal Irkens can't." "Oh yeah?" Meg asked, flopping on the sofa "Like what?" "Well....." Zim thought hard for a few seconds. "I'm pretty sure that when water touches your skin, you won't burn." Meg's eyes widened. "Really? When water touches your skin, you burn up?" "Yep.." Zim replied, shuddering "It's horrible..." He remembered the first time he'd walked into a rainstorm. He still had some of the burn marks. "Sooooo, um, is there anything else I can do that you can't?" Meg asked, trying to break the akward silence. "Well..." Zim thought for a moment "I don't think I saw a PAK on you...." Meg blinked, tilting her head in confusion. "What's a PAK, Zim?" Zim gave her a confused look. "Didn't you see mine?" He asked, turning around to show her the grey, metal pod on his back. Meg gasped, her chocolate coloured eyes shining with wonder. "Wow! I never noticed that before! What does it do?" "Well, it's basically my life source." Zim explained "When Irken smeets are born, they have a PAK drilled into their spines, except for you, because you are part human. If my PAK is removed, I can only live for 10 minutes before I completely shut down and die." Meg gasped in horror, a look of shock on her face. "R-Really?! Zim, that's terrible!" Zim hung his head "Yes, yes, i know...." he replied sadly "But for you, it is the opposite. If you were to wear a PAK, in just 10 minutes, your body would overload and you would end up dying, as your body chemistry is not compatible with the PAK's energy." Meg sighed deeply. "I see......" She snapped out of her daydream. "You know, maybe I should get some rest.." "Yes, for tommorow you will start school with me!" Zim, exclaimed, clapping his hands together. "You can have a human disguise, like me!" Meg groaned at the thought of going back to school, but she had a thought. "Human disguise?" she asked, perking up her antennae. Zim nodded in responce "Yes, I have to wear a wig to hide my antennae, and contact lenses to hide my eyes." He explained "You'll need lenses too, but since you already have hair due to being part human, how will you hide your antennae?" "Hmmmm...." Meg closed her eyes, deep in thought. "I'll think about that one!" She snuggled under the covers, yawning. "Well, I'll see you in the morning, Zim." She said sleepily. "Ok, good night....Meg..." Zim replied quietly, walking out of the living room, turning out the light. Meg smiled, closing her eyes. But suddenly, she sat bolt upright on the sofa as she had a sudden realisation. Zim called her Meg!
